How To Use Apple’s Find My AirPods Feature To Locate Your Lost Headphones?

Small earbuds, can fall between couch cushions, fly under furniture or wedge deep into a pocket. A few years ago, Apple rolled out a new "Find My" feature that makes it easy to find your lost Air Pods on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. No matter which pair of Air Pods you have the second-generation version, the Air Pods Pro or the Air Pods Max, earbuds can get lost, misplaced or even carried away by the family pet.

Before you can use the "Find My" app to locate anything you've lost, make sure it's set up. Double-check that "Find My" is turned on by opening the Settings app, tap on your name at the top of the screen, then select "Find My". To use the feature, open the "Find My" app and look for your Air Pods in your list of devices. From there, you can see where your Air Pods are located on a map. If you tap the Air Pods icon on the map, you’ll see the option to play a sound from the Air Pods.

The sound will gradually get louder as it plays for two minutes. If you can hear it, but not find it before the sound stops, then tap Play Sound again. In a situation where the Air Pods aren't within range for your phone to trigger a sound, you should still see the last location your phone had a connection to them. An important thing to note is that all of these steps apply only if the Air Pods are out of their case and connected to your iPhone.
